Anatomy Faculty Position

In a pioneering international initiative, Cornell University and Weill Cornell Medical College established Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar (WCM-Q) in 2001 through a unique partnership with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development.

The medical program at WCM-Q replicates the admission standards and the innovative curriculum, which includes, among other things, integrated, multidisciplinary basic science courses that are the hallmark of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

We are seeking an anatomist with substantial experience in teaching medical students, as well as strong leadership skills in developing and delivering anatomy, gained in an academic medical center in the United States or its equivalent. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their proficiency and experience in fresh cadaver dissection and clinical anatomy, at the standard expected of students taking the USMLE, as well as the successful teaching of histology of tissues and organs, developmental anatomy, and functional neuroanatomy.

Preference will be given to applicants, who provide evidence of their successful involvement in the development and delivery of innovative approaches to teaching. They should also demonstrate a strong record of excellence in and commitment to teaching.

Qualifications:


Must Have

  • M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree in Anatomy or related field

  • Minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in all areas of human Anatomy

  • Record of excellence in teaching and scholarship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with educational technologies, including virtual and augmented reality, 3D digital anatomy models, and other computer-based educational programs

  • Teaching experience in diverse learning modalities (PBL, small groups, lectures, bedside, etc.)

  • Track record of clinical, biomedical, or educational research

Essential skills

  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex medical terminology and procedures in a way that is easy for students to comprehend

  • Strong organizational skills to manage large amounts of information, including student data, course materials and research data

  • Proven capacity to help students understand complex concepts

  • Excellent critical thinking skills to create engaging lessons that challenge students to think clinically
